Poem on George Davis election campaign

leave a comment »

While collecting nomination signatures to get on the ballot, George Davis met the poet, John Patrick. John said that he would write a poem on the campaign. He asked for the platform and for George’s favorite movie which is “King of Hearts.” In less than five minutes, John Patrick created this poem.

ROYAL HEARTS

Giving his all in this attemp to be the candidate you’ll call upon
Everyone will learn his name & proclaim the sixth district safe & sane
Orchestrating & creating a freedom of expression to remain
Realizing it’s not surprising that there’s so many in the run to win
Guess it’s best to hope they vote Davis and he’ll be the one you can depend upon for your needs
Every Senior will receive medical services for free, it’s guaranteed to start
For George will be the supervising king of hearts

San Francisco Police “Heads Up”/Media Release

SF Police “Heads Up”/Media release

To: Chief of Police, George Gascon
Mayor Gavin Newsom
All SFPD Station Captains
News Media

Topic:
“Heads Up” on the campaign plan for the George Davis election campaign for Supervisor from District Six. On July 23, 2010, George Davis turned in to the San Francisco Department of Elections fully completed nomination papers, paid the filing fee, and took the “oath of office”. Barring a few easy to remedy contingencies, George Davis will be an official candidate on the November 2, 2010 ballot.

Campaign plan: Weather permitting, to demonstrate freedom of expression and freedom from censorship, George Davis will walk nude throughout District Six and the City. Supervisors represent both their elected district and the City as a whole. He will be accompanied by at least one companion and photographer for the campaign blog, http://www.georgedavisdistrictsix.wordpress.com.

The central tenets of the campaign are:
1. Freedom of Expression
2. Freedom from Censorship
3. Free Dental, Vision, and Hearing Care for Seniors
4. George Davis, your 1st choice for the 2nd choice vote on the ballot

If there are a significant number of free thinkers and Seniors in District Six, George Davis should get some votes. Enough to win? Who knows? That’s why we hold free elections.

From the submission to the voter’s handbook, George Davis’s qualifications are:

(name) George Davis
(occupation) writer

I am the author of the books: Cabdrivers Guide to San Francisco, Naked Yoga, and Weapons of Mass Deception. (Books are available at http://www.fkkfreebodyculture.com.) I have written numerous magazine articles covering topics ranging from San Francisco politics, economics, urban planning, tourism, civil liberties, health and fitness, to theology.

In the 1970’s, I worked as a San Francisco cabdriver. In the 1980’s and 1990’s, I was an independent businessman and owned several different real estate agencies and companies.

I am a long-time member of Amnesty International and the ACLU. I have campaigned for civil liberties, freedom of expression, and freedom from censorship for decades. I have campaigned for these views to the point where I have been arrested and exonerated several times.

I am 64 years old and am fully aware of the deficiencies in medical care delivery to Seniors and the general population; especially dental, vision, and hearing care.

I have also raised three children and have three grandchildren.

I will be blogging this campaign at http://www.georgedavisdistrictsix.wordpress.com with uncensored photos and commentary. You are welcome to communicate with me through that blog.

At this point, George Davis does not expect any police harassment. For the record, George Davis has been arrested twenty times in the last five years for public nudity in violation of the California Supreme Court decision In Re Smith (1972) which holds that “nude is not lewd” and other supporting decisions. This is the law. This is reality. There is no harm in public nudity. The twenty arrests have resulted in zero trials, zero convictions and fifteen letters/holdings from the San Francisco Office of Citizens Complaints (OCC), the SFPD watchdog agency, saying the police actions against George Davis were harassment.

San Francisco Police Department harassment of nudists is still a sometimes-they-do and sometimes-they-don’t proposition.

If for some bizarre reason, the SFPD wishes to interfere with the electoral process by harassing Mr. Davis and help make him Supervisor Davis, George Davis will accept arrests and conduct a daily police harassment protest campaign in front of City Hall.

See you all on the campaign trail.

P.S. To save on duplicate media releases, on Park(ing) Day, Friday, September 17, 2010, George Davis and the Free Body Culture movement will erect a “Garden of Eden” parking space park, complete with an au naturale Adam, Eve, Cain, Abel, et al. on the east (sunny side) of Valencia Street somewhere between 15th and 17th Streets. They will pass out apple slices to passersby.
